Avatar/Stargate SG1 Meme

Hi all! It’s a Avatar/Stargate SG1 meme! I would dearly love to write more in the Rampage and Strangers universe, but I seem to be blocked for ideas. Woe. :( Could you please help me out? I’m hoping some great prompts could stir my writing juices again!

Some quick in universe rules:

  • *Edit* Alternate timeline for Avatar. It's been a month since Sozin's comet has come and gone: The Gaang didn't win. The Earth Kingdom is mostly burned out, Azula is Fire Lord, and Ozai has declared himself Phoenix King.
  • It’s early season 2 Stargate SG1. The Goa’uld are still the bad guys, and they don’t have access to faster than light ships yet.
So pick a character and pick an emotion or prompt or setting (or SG1 episode!), and I’ll drabble the hell out of it :) Examples: Teal’c and Toph Boxing time in the gym. ZukoThis strange sun doesn’t feel right at all. Feel free to request as many prompts as you would like, however I may not be able to fill them all.

Zuko and Toph - the NID bit off way more than they could chew with these kids

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol. I loved this prompt. Feel free to request more if you think of anything!

“The NID has clear precedent in these situations, Colonel O’Neill,” Mayborne said, his nasal, bureaucratic voice rising to a higher pitch.  “It is our duty to evaluate all findings for the application of possible alien weapons technology.”

Jack O’Neill stood before the other Colonel, his arms crossed over his chest. “They aren’t weapons, Mayborne. These are just a couple of scared kids we’ve got holed up in here. Doctor Frasier has already agreed to send you all test results from their medical exams. Besides,” he said, and a sardonic half-smile crawled cross his face. “You can’t make these kids go anywhere.”

“Nonsense,” Mayborne snapped. “Stand aside, O’Neill. That is an order.”

Jack gave him a long, steady look. A look that distinctly said, ‘Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you’ before reluctantly moving out of his path. It was his funeral.

Zuko and Toph stood on the other side of the room. They had followed the argument back and forth for the past ten minutes – unusually silent and calm for those two. Jack knew that Daniel had been teaching them English for the past few weeks, and he silently suspected that the boy and the girl had a better grasp on the language than they had ever let on. It was a tacticians move, not letting your enemy know how much you knew, and Jack was coming to accept the fact that these two were brilliant tacticians – even if neither one of them were at an age to drive.

Colonel Mayborne strode up to the kids, his chest thrown out impressively. He glanced at Toph and dismissed her at once, focusing on the older of the two.

“You are to come with me,” he said slowly and all too loud as if Zuko were deaf instead of barely fluent.

The boy looked the man up and down and crossed his arms in an unconscious imitation of Jack’s own stance. His good eye narrowed dangerously, and he said nothing.

Mayborne tried again, “Come with me, now!” this time gesturing in exaggeration to himself and then to the far door where two burly marines stood waiting.

And again Zuko said nothing, simply tilted his head up to look at him. Daniel had told Jack that the boy referred to himself as some kind of Prince, and at that moment he looked every inch of it – high born and imperious even in the face of a man who was more than a head taller than he was.

Then Mayborne made his mistake. He reached out, trying to grab Toph’s arm – probably mistaking the blind little girl as the weaker of the two.

Toph stepped back easily, jerking her arm out of his reach, and Zuko moved forward –He didn’t use any fire. Daniel had made him promise over and over again he would not set anyone or anything thing on fire if he could possibly help it – but apparently he was fast enough without. He grabbed Mayborne’s wrist and twisted it to the side viciously, eliciting a surprised cry of pain from the older man. Then his other hand snapped out, the heel of his palm striking Mayborne hard in the solar-plexus. The Colonel fell to the ground, wheezing.

The two marines rushed in from the doorway, but Toph simply trust out two hard fists out. The sheet metal conference table in the middle of the room was suddenly flung forward as if shoved by an invisible force. It crashed right into the two marines and flung them back and down for the count.

The whole assault had taken less than a few seconds.

“We… not leaving with man who…can not even fight.” Toph said, in heavily accented English.

And that, Jack thought, summed it up quite nicely.

This is hilarious.

Way way too awesome.

Thanks! :D

BWAHAHAHA. Go Toph and Zuko!
o/` He had it coming~

[identity profile] eilonnwy.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome. I just watched an episode where Maybourne makes a fool of himself! XD

I have to admit, I'm really loving the idea of Avatar and SG-1.

[identity profile] arinye.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
WOOT! The crossover virus spreads!
also aaww, blushing zuzu~

[identity profile] eilonnwy.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well these postings also happen to coincide with my recent endeavor to rewatch the entire Sg-1 series on Hulu. :)

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, that is what Mayborne is best at. :) Me too. It's silly, but dangit I'm having fun with this crossover.

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
He more than had it coming! hehe. Thanks! :D

[identity profile] redrikki.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, I'm sort of surpised Toph didn't just kick his ass for touching her. Of course, leave it to Zuko to defend a lady's honor.

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* She would have if Zuko wasn't so quick on the draw. She one-upped him anyway by taking out two marines. Lol.

oh!! <333! This is most awesome!

[identity profile] eilonnwy.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
A couple of times SG-1 members might give off-worlders a pet. Jack gave Cassie a dog, Sam gave this dude a Cat (I forget his name). Considering how different the Avatar animals are from our animals, that could be interesting. I think they have cats in Avatar-land, but what about dogs?

That's all I can think of for now.

I do love the idea of thinking of situations for Toph and Zuko in SG-1. :3

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
I apologize in advance if this is a touch too silly, and gleefully blame it on the late night. :D This was a great prompt, btw. Feel free to add more!

Daniel paused mid-step as he entered the cafeteria. Jack O’Neill was sitting at his usual table, eating what looked like a bowl of fruit-loops while casually flipping through the day’s newspaper.

And he was alone.

“Uh Jack,” Daniel said in an undertone as he slid into the seat opposite from the other man. “Isn’t it your turn to watch Zuko and Toph?”

SG-1 had been ordered to stay Earth-side while Major Cater tried to figure out how to establish a gate back to PX-2934417. In exchange, Hammond had ordered the rest of the team to keep a close eye on their temporary charges so that they didn’t destroy anything in the base. Well… anything else.

But Jack merely shrugged and flipped his newspaper over to the sports section – eyeing the hockey scores with a critical eye. “I ordered one of the new recruits to do it.”

“Jaaack,” Daniel gave a disgusted sigh. “That’s not fair.” Most sane men didn’t want anything to do with a living flame-thrower and an ultra-destructive blind girl. Two levels of Stargate Command would be in construction for months as it was. “Who did you get?”

“Private Shepherd, from the security detail.”

There was something… fiendish glinting in Jack’s blue eyes, and Daniel was tempted to call him on it, but in the next moment Jack had shoved an untouched plateful of toast across the table. “Breakfast?”

                                                            ******

Zuko stared at the… creature sitting across the room. The creature opened its mouth, a long tongue lolling out the side, and stared back.

“Well?” Toph asked, “What is it?”

He didn’t answer at first, taking in a careful stock the strange creature; it’s sharply pointed muzzle, the standup ears and tan and black coat. Jack O’Neill had simply shoved the animal into the room with exaggerated gestures and words that meant nothing at to the pair of them. Then the colonel had left, leaving… the thing behind. “It looks almost like a wolf-lion puppy,” he mused. “My sister had one, once.”

Something in his voice must have tipped Toph off. “Oh yeah? How long did it last?”

A memory Zuko had tried very hard to forget flickered across his mind – high pitched, desperate yelping and the scent of scorched fur. He shuddered. “About three weeks.”

Toph gave a pause. She couldn’t have seen his reaction, of course, but she must have felt it, somehow, using her earthbending. “So, she was always like that, huh?”

“Pretty much.”

The beast, whatever it was, gave a loud yawn and settled down by the door, laying its head on its paws. It seemed to be fairly well trained, not flinching or moving away when Toph walked over and set about running her hands all over its coat. She paused at its large, standup ears.

“Oh,” she said. “It’s a giant wolf-bat.”

“Don’t wolf-bat’s have wings?”

She gave a shrug. “I told you this place was weird.”

It took only a small measure of earthbending to reach down to the floor and dig out a handful of softened concrete. (Honestly, no one in their right mind but these strange people would build a whole underground complex out of something so delightfully malleable to an earthbender). In a few seconds of concentration and twisting the stone in her hands to create a ball.

Instantly, the wolf-bat’s head rose and his ears pricked forward. Toph grinned, waving the ball in front of him. “You want this, fella?”

                                                            ********

Daniel had just finished his second piece of toast when a sharp cracking sound followed by high pitched barking filled the room. He turned just in time to see Toph, riding what looked like a German Shepherd fly across the open doorway, laughing gleefully. Zuko followed a few seconds later, running flat out and yelling something in their language. Daniel didn’t need a translator.

“Toph! Get back here!!!!”

Daniel whirled back around, glaring at his Colonel. “Private Shepherd?” he repeated.

Jack only shrugged. “Oh come on, Daniel. They’re kids. It’s just not right for them not to have a dog.”

Er, I've been a longtime silent fan of your works, but I especially enjoyed your SG-1/AtLA crossover and Another Brother. ^^ I liked your meme so much I wanted to draw part of it, so here you go? XD;;

Merry Christmas & hope you feel better soon!

Oh my goodness, this is freakin' adorable! Thank you so much for drawing it! The lines are really clear. I love the detail of Toph's clothing and the ball she has made in one hand. And of course Private Shepard is adorable. *snuggles this*

I don't know a thing from SG-1 but after vicious wikipedia searching, here are me prompts:

In the Bane, Zuko gets stung by the insect.

Zuko and Toph start learning English.

Teal'C and Zuko fight and Toph joins them.

Most of what I remember from SG1 was pointing out scene inconsistencies at my boyfriend's house. But it seemed like an interesting series.

I like your crossover fic better.

So, I'd love to see the scene when Teal'c finds and brings the kids back to the SG1-verse.

And maybe Zuko and Toph versus the Goa'uld.

I second a "What happened that they got brought back without having even seen the 'gaters who took them" snippet, even though that doesn't go along with my "focus on them rather than the SG1 people" reaction.

What happened that they got brought back without having even seen the 'gaters who took them

This totally made me reevaluate a couple of things about where/when the timeline started in the Avatar-verse. Thanks! :D Feel free to request more if you think of any!

After Azula attacked… everything was fire and falling rocks and screaming… it wasn’t too much of a wonder that everyone had lost track of each other.

There must have been a spy in the ranks, Sokka mused, later on. How else would the mad Fire Lord know exactly where to strike them, and the best time – pitting her best imperial firebenders against the Avatar and the last of what remained of the Earth Kingdom.

They had gotten out thanks to Appa, mostly unscorched, with Katara grimly healing a wicked-looking burn on her brother’s shoulder.

“We have to go back,” Aang said. “We can’t leave them there...”

Loud booms echoed back over the distance. Azula’s zeppelins pelting the entire area with bomb after bomb. Katara’s mouth set in a thin line and she shook her head, forcing herself to pour all of her concentration into her water-healing. The Earthbenders were strong, she knew. They’d be able to burrow under the rock and keep safe – wait out the attack with the patient strength of their element – but the firebenders – those Zuko had convinced to desert his sister’s rule… she didn’t know.

“They’ll be fine, Aang.” Somehow she was able to keep her voice steady. “This won’t get Toph down, Suki can take care of herself, and Zuko… he never gives up.”

They weren’t able to get back until after-nightfall – keeping low to the ground and sneaking past enemy zeppelins looking for any sign of movement, of survivors.

Sokka was just on his feet again, and of course had insisted on going with them despite the fact that he was still wobbly on his feet and his face was ashen.

It made his reunion with Suki all that much sweeter.

Katara had been right: The small Earthbending army, led by former Dai Li, had simply dug a large borrow for themselves and had waited the assault out. Suki had taken refuge with them.

The rebel firebenders… hadn’t been so lucky.

And there was no sign of Toph or Zuko anywhere.

The look on Aang’s face was... something Katara had never wanted to see on him again. He stared out at the blackened scorch of earth, sad and lost and so horribly guilty. Katara went to him, touched his shoulder, and tried to figure out what to say. It was impossible. Tears were running down her cheeks and her throat seemed to have closed off any sound.

“I’m sorry,” seemed to fall desperately, sickenly short. Not when two of his best friends were dead, or captured. With Azula it was probably all the same anyway.

So she said nothing and after a bit Aang spoke. His voice was rough, but small… so small… “This shouldn’t have happened. It’s all my fault.”

“Aang…”

“If I stopped Ozai before the comet came… Maybe if I didn’t wait.”

“Aang,” she repeated, turning him to face her. “You knew you weren’t ready. You would have been killed—”

“And now Zuko and Toph are gone, and all of those soldiers! Is that any better?” he demanded, and of course she had no answer. His grey eyes glinted with something hurt and terrible and before she could answer he had flipped open his airglider and taken to the wind.

He needed to get away. She knew the feeling.

And far down, accidentally buried deep under the earth by the actions of half-panicked, desperate earthbenders, a ring of strange stone lay, waiting.

[identity profile] derawr.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, wow. That's pretty intense.

Poor Aang.

Re: What happened

[identity profile] lynati-1.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, that was NICE. (And glad to be of help. My old favorite way to spend time was to get friends (..all 3 of them...)to ask me questions about my fic world(s), so that I'd hopefully realize the answer. I learned more about my worlds than any other, especially when asked abou things I'd never contemplated before.)

I really like the heartfeltness of Aang's reaction, and Katara's reaction to *that*, but part of me is a little surprised because Aang has always seemed like the eternal optimist; I half-expected him to try and concince Katara (and himself) that the missing firebenders must be with Toph,(on re-reading, they're dead. whoops) they must have got separated, or tried to lead Azula's forces away...

But the soul-cuttingness of Aang thinking they are "lost" is wickedly sharp.

And this poor world, the last of its hold-outs being forced to fall back so far they have to leave the surface of the world itself...

"This won’t get Toph down, Suki can take care of herself, and Zuko… he never gives up.”

That is so completely each of them in a nutshell. And yaye for including Suki. And the sweet aside to her and Sokka's reunion; it doesn't nee da description beyond that line, because if you know the characters you can see how it probably went in your own head.

The set-up line for the Gate is great. (Although by this point is it waiting, or was it already activated and that's why they can't find Zuko and Toph? Or are Zuko and Toph buried down there now *with* the Gate, unconscious, and that's why they haven't made an appearance? Oh, and while I like the gate being covered by the earthbenders during the fight, was it also *uncovered* during the same fight?)

Now you've done such a great intro for the story, I want to see the part two- the SG1's side, whatever activate the gate, them finding the two, etc.

#

And since you did say "feel free to request any more,"...

in the middle of the continuity you've already concocted, "A new complication." Throw a nice juicy hunk of plot / plot-twist in.

Maybe the SG1 crew (who still haven't brought in that asian language specialist yet I guess) get what they think is clarification what is going on in the "Avatar" world, and they (mistakenly) think their own adversaries are at the heart of the problem and decide to get involved? You already dropped in some confusion over the nature of the Avatar previously, maybe they think he's a whatsit gone rogue and fighting against another whatsit, "the fire lord".

(or possibly this doesn't at all fit with whatever you have in mind. if it doesn't- show what you do have in mind!)

And since this is a meme, I give you an additional prompt!
Bonus: Someone creating a convoluted story behind Zuko referring to the Fire Lord as his father.

SG-1 Finds The Kids

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
This is why I'm so bad at meme's. These things are supposed to be drabbles. DRABBLES. Ugh.

“The MALP has shown breathable air and earthlike climate,” Carter reported briskly, as she and the rest of SG1 did a final check. Behind them, the Stargate whirled and locked into its normal sequence, coded in by the techs up in the control room. “No sign of civilization.”

O’Neill raised his eyebrow at that and almost, almost asked the obvious question: If there wasn’t any signs of a population, why where they bothering to even go there? But then again, he already had the first signs of a headache throbbing in between his eyes, and he wasn’t sure if his pain threshold could stand Carter or Daniel’s science-y scientific answer.

So naturally, Teal’c asked it for him.

“Wouldn’t it be then more prudent to concentrate our efforts on a planet that may help us fight the Goa’uld?”

She flashed him a bright smile. “The MALP only conducts a brief survey. It may not catch everything—“

“It hasn’t, always,” Daniel added, with a rueful look. He was speaking from experience. Somehow, it always seemed that when things went wrong, he took the brunt of it.

“Chevron Seven is locked!” Davis’ voice called from the speaker above.

With a whoosh of space/time fabric (which for some reason looked a lot like an underwater vortex) the Stargate burst into life. O’Neill gave a long sigh and ascended the ramp, clapping the big Jaffa on the shoulder as he did in sympathy. This mission looked to be one of those long, boring ones.

*****

The ground bucked under O’Neill’s feet the second he stepped from the other side of the gate. He threw out his arm for balance, knocking into Carter who had just stepped out herself.

“Whoa! Earthquake! Get down!” O’Neill shouted, couching down to keep his center of gravity low.

The Stargate was in a heavily wooded area – good news, since that meant they weren’t going to be smashed by any falling ceilings any time soon. Bad news because falling branches could be equally hazardous.

The ground under them jerked once more then settled out to an odd thrum that could barely be felt through the soles of their boots. O’Neill glanced around, gave a quick headcount to make sure everyone was there, and quickly led the way down the small earthen hill from this planet’s stargate. He didn’t want to be anywhere near that thing if it went crashing down.

“Jaaack,” Daniel complained, “You know it’s not necessarily an earthquake if it’s not on Earth, right?”

Re: SG-1 Finds The Kids 2

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
“Planet-quake doesn’t have the same ring to it,” he answered, scanning the trees. Something wasn’t right. He could still feel the unsettling vibration – the foliage around them was shivering with it. Beyond that, his well-tuned spider sense was tingling. There was something – or someone—out there.

He kept everyone in a tight formation as they led out from the gate, snapping perhaps a bit too much at Daniel when he knelt to examine an oddly broken piece of rock.

They had been only walking for about fifteen minutes when Teal’c suddenly stopped and bent down, one hand pressed to the ground. He frowned and rose again, a quick twist brought his staff weapon to life, “Colonel O’Neill,” he said, rising. “There appears to be two large forces advancing from either side of our position.”

O’Neill upholstered his own zat and saw Carter do the same. “Goa’uld?”

“I cannot say.”

“Betcha they’re Goa’uld,” O’Neill muttered. That would just make his day complete. He turned to Carter. “Set up a perimeter of claymores at ten meters. I want a way to get out of here in case this turns ugly—“

There was no warning. The ground suddenly heaved up again under them, as turned into liquid choppy seas. A wall of thick granite, at least ten feet high and three feet thick, burst out of the soil, showering them all with pebbles and clods of dirt. Then it fell forward – it would have crushed them all like bugs if they hadn’t scrambled out of the way.

A moment later a column of soldiers – looking a lot to Jack like Dr Seuss’ version of red Strom Troopers – came boiling out the trees from their right. Then from the left another line of men – these more massive, and dressed in green.

The granite wall protected SG1’s flank, and let them take a defensive position with their backs up against something…

And that was when the real madness started.

O’Neill wasn’t quite sure when he realized when he had his team had been unlucky enough to gate into what appeared to be the meeting point between two opposing armies. His first hint was that no one was as much attacking them as they were each other: Attacking with thrown rocks, some kind of concealed flamethrowers… spears…

This definitely wasn’t Goa’uld. This was… well, O’Neill wasn’t quite sure what it was. Especially when he saw swarthy looking man in a green loincloth pick up a boulder about five times the size he should have been able to pick up and hurl it at the red guys, taking out about three of them.

The only thing he and his team could do was take a defensive position with their backs to the gate and zat anything that came too close.

O’Neill heard a twipping sound from his left and reacted on instinct, grabbing Daniel by the back of his collar and dragging them both to the ground. Not a moment two soon. A hail of fist-sized stones went by with enough force to have been shot out of a canon.

So the natives had spears, flame-throwers and… rock-throwing canons? Catapults?

Re: SG-1 Finds The Kids 3

[identity profile] avocado-love.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
“Carter!” O’Neill roared, taking aim and shooting again. A native in a green loincloth with a neck the size of his thigh went down, twitching. “We’re getting outta here! Get to the gate and dial us out.” He had enough of this planet already. Time for a strategic retreat. They’ll come back in a few weeks, and give the local war some time to cool off.

Carter nodded and, grabbing Daniel by his arm, hauled the archeologist to his feet and set into a dead run back the way they came. O’Neill and Teal’c fell smoothly into rear guard position, watching their backs and their sides.

Daniel was pointing up to the sky, yelling something, but his words were lost to the chaos.

They had gotten no more than a hundred yards when an almighty BOOM shook the ground and the forest all around them and sent a wash of dry heat over the entire area. Jack had just enough time – no more than a second – to flash back to one particularly bad day in Desert Storm, think Air Strike before there was another blast.

He didn’t hear it – it was too loud to be heard. He only felt the shock of impact, and then that particular stomach-dropping sensation of his own body in uncontrolled flight through the air. His training kicked in when his mind could not, rolling with the impact and keeping protective hands over his head. There was a moment of blank silence, then O’Neill came back to himself, laying on the ground with the taste of dirt in his mouth and his body aching.

At first he thought he had been deafened by the expulsion, but… no. He could hear coughing and groaning, but the fighting around them had momentarily paused.

O’Neill raised his head. “Anyone else alive?”

“Here, sir.” Carter said, to his right. She had been half covered by a blasted frond, kept safe and whole through sheer dumb luck.

Daniel coughed to his left and sat up. One of the lenses in his glasses had been cracked and there was a nasty bleeding wound in his scalp, but he gave a wave to O’Neill and seemed more or less alert.

Teal’c, already standing again with his staff weapon in his hand, merely nodded. “I am unharmed.”

“I thought I saw a zeppelin through the trees.” Daniel said.

There was another explosion, this one slightly further away, as if to underline his point. This one was enough to shake the ground again and O’Neill saw a bloom of orange some way out in the distance. Something wasn’t right here. If they had tech for air combat, why the spears? He made up his mind in an instant.

“We need to take a look at these weapons. Carter, get to the gate and get us dialed out. Me and Teal’c are going to do a little recon. Daniel, cover her.”

The area around them was thick with foliage, but the closer he and Teal’c got to the blast zone, the more damage they saw: Trees with trunks as thick as houses had been flattened to the ground, and out beyond in the point of impact the ground was blackened to dirt.

With the area clear, O’Neill was able to get his first view of open sky.

Daniel had been right. One side of the war had zeppelins – O’Neill guessed it was the side the red Storm Trooper guys were on because the entire fleet, more than a dozen ships, were also painted in the same rusty color. The zeppelins had come in high and silent and pretty much flattened most of the valley, by the looks of things. SG-1 had been lucky to be positioned on the edge, or else they would have been fried to a crisp.

There was some kind of movement around the fleet of airships – it was too far away to get a good look, even with the binoculars, but it looked like some sort of cow-shaped animal was flying between them, harassing the machines. Someone on the green guy’s side, or maybe just a flying alien creature defending it’s territory: O’Neill didn’t know, but he could see that the thing wasn’t doing much good… it couldn’t against so many. Worst of all, the fleet was making a slow, ungainly turn. It looked as if they were coming in for another pass.

The zeppelins were slow. They’d have a few minutes yet. O’Neill motioned for Teal’c to move forward and together they climbed a small hill, crouching down to get a better look at the battlefield.

From their point of height they could look over the worst of the damage. The entire area was blackened and burned with small fires still scorching the outside. There was more fighting far off: More soldiers with what had to be flame throwers being surrounded by an army in green. They weren’t looking up, though, and soon as those zeppelins came around, those scales would be tipped.

For a moment, O’Neill considered doing the stupid, heroic thing. Running down there, telling the guys in green to watch their heads.

Local war, Jack, said a cold, cynical voice in his head. You don’t know the story – any of the story behind this. Besides, there’s no time. The zeppelins aren’t coming fast, but they’re coming and –

“Colonel O’Neill.”

While Jack had been debating with himself, Teal’c had been taking a look at ground level. Catching O’Neill’s eye he pointed to a spot not fifty feet away.

There had been a disturbance in the flat, blackened ground. An up thrust stone and under the lee side of it, a scrap of green. Someone had taken shelter down there, someone who had not been blasted to bits. Someone who was maybe alive.

O’Neill nodded, and, keeping low, he and Teal’c ran down the dusty, baked hill. There were burned forms on all sides: Bodies toasted and deformed, looking more like hunched, black rocks than people…

If someone under that rock had survived, it was a miracle.

And as Teal’c and O’Neill got close they saw that it was not one miracle, but two.

“Aw crap,” O’Neill breathed as he bent down, searching for pulses. They were just kids. He hated seeing kids hurt. One dressed in green and one in red, probably from either side of the war and… ah geez, kids this age should be worried about proms, or whatever passed for a prom in this world. Not entrenched in wars.

Still, they were alive, knocked unconscious… but alive.

“The zeppelins will be here in minutes,” Teal’c rumbled, and there was a silent question in there.

O’Neill looked out to the fighting group – too far away to help, even if they did have the whole story. But the kids… Hammond probably wouldn’t like it, but he’d probably like Jack’s shrink’s bill even less if he had to turn his back on two kids with certain death coming from above.

“Think you can take the one in red?” O’Neill asked, bending down to take the green kid.

He didn’t think he imagined the approval in Teal’c’s voice. “I can, O’Neill. We must hurry.”

The kid in green was a girl, O’Neill realized, startled when he turned her over to heft her in his arms. She was heavy for someone so young, or maybe it was the armor. He left her wide, oversized helmet on the ground behind them, and with a look, he and Teal’c retreated back to the gate.

Woo. So it took me a few days to wrap my head around what exactly went on. Basically SG-1 gated into a fight between some of the last of the Earth Kingdom forces and Azula's Fire Nation troops. The EK were winning at first, until Azula brought in her fleet of airships and blasted the whole area (including some of her own guys). Toph and Zuko were with one of the unlucky platoons and would have been blasted for sure if Jack and Teal'c hadn't found them. So there we go!

I love your skill to wrap the story of AU Avatar and SG9 together so flawlessly.

This is why I'm so bad at meme's. These things are supposed to be drabbles. DRABBLES. Ugh.

It's ok. *pats*

And this is a great piece. I love the way the SG1 people reacted to the Avatar world and to Toph and Zuko. You did a great job of describing the fighting, too. Awesome. :D

*loves crossovers*

Mandatory medical exams for Toph and Zuko, just because I want to see Zuko flail and blush like a girl. ;)

Not that I don't love seeing Zuko in those kinds of situations too, but if it's anything to the degree to make HIM blush, there's no way he'd let them do the same to Toph- especially if Toph feels the same way, which I rather imagine she would. "Lolwhat, you want to get my barely-pubescent blind female companion to strip down? Can we tell you all the ways that isn't happening, or just beat your face in for suggesting it?"

On the other hand, I too now wanna see Zuko stuck in a sitch that *does* make him blush and flail. Good call!

Well, I was just thinking about how the SGC has mostly seen him be all bratty and Prince-y, when really he spends a lot of his time flailing around like a dork. I want them to see that other side, haha.

Eeehee, I am a page! X3 Unfortunately, it has been so long since I watched SG1 I lack any truly clever prompts for this 'verse. D: However, I have noticed a tragic lack of Carter, and clearly this must be remedied.

Therefore, Toph and Sam and the same room. This is all I need to be happy, I think.

Also, Zuko and sunlight-needs! Solar battery issues? Either way there are some intrigued scientists trying to get readings while he's just trying to sun.

Toph and O'Neil (or anyone from the military, really--I'm only passingly familiar with the series) - the ethics of child soldiers.

Toph- Gaining an appreciation for just how deadly this world's weapons are.

I know nothing about Stargate.

I want to see Toph and maybe Zuko explore the facility. Maybe little snippets of life there. Examples:

Engine room / power plant
Showers
Greenhouse / oxygen plant

Etc. Getting to know the setting, and the mundane little discoveries that entails.

Ohhohoho. I vote for SG-1 introduces Toph and Zuko to Earth culture. Hijinks ensue. (Hockey, The Simpsons, and Jello from one side, ancient history and modern technology from the other. And that's before Teal'c offers his perspectives... ;)

1. SG-1 takes the kids to the mall to get clothes.
2. Hammond reminds Zuko of Iroh.
3. Carter tries to figure out magic kung-fu and breaks her brain.

Are you planning on finishing any of these? Because the ones you've written so far are awesome. The way you write O'Neill is just so very... O'Neill. I can't think of a better word, but you nailed him perfectly. I can really hear all of the characters' voices while reading these, but his especially.
You said up above that you might not finish all the prompts, but I was just curious as to whether I should keep my eye on this for more. ^-^
