1. I want a GOOD Naruto/Avatar crossover. Maybe there are some good ones out there, but I sure haven't seen 'em.
2. I want a believable fic that goes into the how and why some people bend, and some don't.
3. This may not count, because I saw a good explanation in The Road Less Traveled by Nandireya, but I want Aang to find a hidden colony of Airbenders. Because seriously, Aang cannot repopulate the planet by himself. And what about the last 100 years? The planet cannot just have been out of balance with a whole freakin' ELEMENT gone without even more horrible stuff happening.
4. I want another long Toko fic. I've been in the mood for that recently, and finding a one that is a) Not squicky b) In character and C) GOOD is tough. Like, I can count the ones I like on one hand.
5) I love AU's (although, not modern AU's as a rule). I would love to see a crazy AU of Toph being the Avatar just because it would be horrible and awesome all at the same time. Bonus points if the Earth Kingdom are evil. lol.

1) A fic where Zuko picks Toph to go with him to beat Azula. They do, but Aang fails for some reason. So it's a post apocalyptic fic where Toph and Zuko are hiding out, trying to build up a resistance in a nearly destroyed Earth Kingdom, and seeking out the next Avatar.
2) A Naruto/Avatar fic. I still want to see a good one, and I might try my hand at it... who the hell knows if it's going to be decent or not, though.
3) I've had this idea for a while where Naruto is kidnapped as a toddler by some other group. ANBU Kakashi is sent to the rescue along with a newly promoted Chuunin, Iruka. Kakashi thinks Iruka is useless, but he has some sort of hidden talent... the crux of it is that they end up saving Naruto, Iruka discovers his talent for teaching kids, and the two of them bond. Aw.
4) I've posted a chapter of this, so it may not count, but I'm writing a Zutara- season one fic which is aggravating and rewarding in equal measures.
5) Finally I've had this really cracky idea that would probably never work, but would be EPIC -- Someday I would like to invite 6 or 7 of my favorite writers to do round robin action/adventure fic. The deal is that each of the writers would write only for their character who is coming from their perspective AU universe. For example, I'd throw in AU!Another Brother Zuko, Clockworkchoas could throw in his Last Firebender!Azula, Orgo's Distorted Reality Aang, DustyJack's and JadePrince's Au!Modern Sokka, Any version of Dungeonwriter's Toph... ect. Anyway, they'd all go on cracky adventures trying to get Aang to the North Pole or something. And it would be either really bad or really good.
... But I promised myself that none of it's gonna happen until I finish In His Shoes. I gotta buckle down and finish it before I start any more multi-chaptered fics.

2) THE HELL SASUKE?!?!?!?! I'm sick of him. Sick. Of. Him. Seriously. He's a bad guy to the ninth degree now, and I hate how Naruto is STILL sticking up to him. (Although he finally seems to be coming around a little.) He permanently crossed the Moral Event Horizon when he decided to go against his old village. You know what? Fuck him. I get the revenge arc. I get it. This goes beyond that, and I am done with him.
3) There needs to be more Iruka. Seriously. ;D
4) I don't understand fandom's fan-crush on Hinata. She's stupid and boring, and I CHEERED when Pain slapped her down. For being the only woman ninja who isn't a healer, she sucks. I mean, the only time she ever gets a spine is when she stands up for her man? WTF? I hope Sasuke kills her slowly, and then Naruto kills Sasuke in an epic fight. That would make me happy.
5) I can't think of anything else 'cept there needs to be more Shikamaru. And Iruka, but I already said that. hehe.

Top five things I'd change about Avatar.
1) I know it's a kid's show, but I would still knock out some of the cheesy stuff.
2) Suki's gotta die. Sorry, guys. But imagine how heart-wrenching it would have been if Sokka found out Suki had died during Day of The Black Sun and his fight with Azula. Oh man...
3) Take Haru out completely. He contributes nothing.
4) Put Jet in for a few more episodes, and THEN have him die all heroically.
5) FOURTH SEASON!!!!! :D
5 things I'd change in Naruto:
1) Canon Kakashi/Iruka. Just because. :D
2) More Shikamaru. Actually, I'd create a whole new team Kakashi with Naruto, Shikamaru and Hinata. And they would go on epic adventures.
3) Another time-skip. I think the series needs one, and I want to see Naruto in his early 20's. ;D
4) Less Rock Lee. I never really got and/or liked him.
5) There needs to be some sort of... limit on the ninja-magic. Seriously. It seems like the rules are up to the imaginations of the writer and the needs of the plot. Because there are no boundaries on what people can do with enough chakra and hand seals it's hard to take anything seriously.
5 Crossovers: (I have odd tastes)
1) I would LOVE to see a SG1/Star Trek TNG xover. How would this work? I dunno, but I would love to see it!
2) Animorphs/House. Gregory House discovers the Yeerks?
3) Naruto/Avatar. I may try this in the future myself (we'll see), but I really want to see a good one written by someone else.
4) and 5) My brain has melted for the day, and I seriously can't think of anything else I would like to see. :( Shame.

Also I have a TlDr theory on why you never see any good Avatar/Naruto crossovers, despite the fact that it seems like it should work if your interested.

Naw, I just don't mind writing characters that I hate. Not that Hinata would become the butt-monkey or something, but she's the only young Ninja outside of Ten-Ten who isn't a healer. And if I wrote her in some crazy other team AU, I wouldn't have her come out of a shell just because of a boy. Bleck.

Problem one: Power level differences
I love Avatar, as a show I think it’s superior. But realistically, none of the Avatar characters stand a chance against a remotely equal Naruto character. Let’s look as some comparisons.
Speed: Aang, Ty Lee and Azula are about the fastest characters in the show, but even they are still visible. Sasuke is pulling off the “move so fast you can’t see” trick in the bell test, and that’s not even getting into monsters like Gai or Rock Lee.
Destructive power- The biggest extend of power Avatar (aside from the avatar) are Ozai/Iroh hyped up on Comet power. The problem is that high ranking nin can do that without any unusual powerups. Any of the Sanin could get through Ba Sing Se just via their summons. Half of Akasuki or any of the kages could probably do it on their own.
Hand to Hand- Compare Ty Lee and Neji. Both have paralyzing attacks. But one is able to do it in an instant, and comes with spinning top o doom.
This is the easiest of the problems to fix. If you want you can play it straight (granted I wouldn’t read “Naruto kicks Avatar’s ass, but someone might) or subtly power up the Avatar characters.
Problem two: Power nature incompatibility
Naruto is a hell of a lot more diverse that Avatar. All Avatar characters are essentially elemental users or taijutsu experts by Naruto standards. No clones, no illusions no exotic summoning. About the only thing avatar has over Naruto is a more “fluid” style, their moves easily transitioning into one another rather than having to learn one move for spikes from the ground, one move for a earthquake, one move for a boulder.
You need to decide how to deal with this. Especially the genjutsu problem. Avatar getting stomped over is boring, but so is them being completely immune. Also is the problem of wind. In Naruto, wind is sharp, it cuts. In Avatar… it doesn’t (heck the concept is actively mocked in “Sokka’s master”) different styles or what.

I remember the first A/N crossover I ever read. It featurers Aang summoning a much older Naruto to help him. Naruto the began a mass bell test with all of the gaang, then ordered them to come at him to kill. When Aang object Naruto begins patronizing explaining how he has to kill. That was when I closed the browser. It wasn’t the different ideologies, it was how one was so patronizingly dismissed as stupid that pissed me off. And that’s the problem, Naruto and Avatar have different ideologies, and worlds, and most people casually mass them together in a way that tramples over one.
In Naruto, you kill you opponents. Maybe you should save them if they are “good” people. But otherwise, kill them with no remorse. In Avatar saving someone is a good thing. Yes, you have to fight, and people will die. But keeping them alive is the morally superior route, even if they aren’t a “good” person.
Furthermore the worlds are different. In Avatar, the war is an abomination. People should not fight, and it is tragic that people so young are being thrown into it (Zuko’s speech about Ozai challenging him at 13 is a case in point). Naruto by contrast has twelve year olds trained as death machines as normal. And while they may not want major wars the need low level conflict in order to fund the village. The villages are fundamentally military institutions with mercenary business on the side. Avatar, by contrast, has been careful to show peacetime bending applications as well.
Now the problem isn’t that this difference exists. Plenty of good stories come from competing ideologies. The problem is that people look at the surface similarities (Aang and Naruto are both fun loving and have a great power, Zuko and Sasuke are both angsty with evil siblings etc) and the bigger problems are either skimmed over or on side is made to be complete wrong. Aang should have a series problem with kids being trained purely for war, yes he fighters, but it’s for necessity, he doesn’t kill people for money. Heck even Toph should probably have some problems with lethal tournaments. A realistic Aang would probably was to destroy the entire hidden village system, seeing is as fundamentally promoting conflict. On the other hand neither side should be presented as fools, or utterly wrong. There is nothing that turns me off a story faster than when to sides debate and every time one side is shown to be “obviously” right.

While these are all great points, and very valid. You could also flip them and say they are more challenges than limitations. Of course Aang would be horrified as 12 old assassins. Of course Kakashi could probably kick Aang's ass, even when he's in the Avatar state (okay, maybe not...). But that's the point! Let's smash them together and find out what happens. Let's set them on a mutual quest for an object. What an adventure it could be!
Then again, this is fan fiction and you're right that most people skim over the details or don't bother with them all together. All these things have to be taken with the right consideration, and they have to be done by the right hand. Most don't bother. I still await for the gem that actually does, though.

Now you could have the Avatar crew adapt, and learn, but even that has it's problems. If Avatar has to learn from the ninja's then the ninja's have already won the ideological debate, as they've proven their philosophy is stronger. And everything else aside, both shows have a "right makes might" ideal.
Like I said, the easiest way to handle that is probably to subtly bump up Avatar's powerlevel. Cause otherwise the fic going to come off as "Naruto's so much better than Avatar" as each of the Avatar cast is massacred by the Naruto cast.

An AU Stargate fic where Jack remains infested by the Tok'ra Kanon. Even if you don't know that much Stargate it's worth researching just so you can take in this brilliant story. It's my utmost favourite fic of all time and this coming from a person who is not particularly a Stargate fan.
