I had a fairly interesting conversation with my cool boss (I have multiple bosses... five, at last count.) He pulled me into one of the corner cubes and we started walking.
Him: So and So's numbers are terrible. If there is a layoff, she would be of the bottom third to go.
Me: People are talking about layoffs?
Him: It's been mentioned to me several times this week.
Me: Oh my God. Well, I can't tell the reps that--
Him: NO! Don't tell the reps! That's a moral buster. No one wants to think about working after hearing that.
Me: You just told that to me. o_O
Backstory: I'm a rep. As in, if there was a layoff... oh man, I hate my job most of the time, but I want to leave on my own terms, you know? I wonder if our quarter numbers are that bad to consider layoffs. I bet he knows even more than he was letting on. Now that I've written this out... I'm sure of it.
