[Error: unknown template qotd] It was "pass", short for "pacifier". I would wake up yelling in the middle of the night screaming for my "pass" when it got lost in the blankets. I guess my first whole word was "Daddy". That makes sense. My dad was a house-father for the most part when I was a baby. My mom worked in the cannery and my dad stayed home, took care of the baby, and of course tended the pot-field. Good times. ;D

it has been said mine was "agua" (water).

It's interesting your first words were "pass" and "daddy."
According to linguistic studies, the first consonants a kid can utter are bilabial, especially "m." So "mommy," "mamá," "maman," "mama" are not so much the result of ones's maternal love, but are more closely related to physio-linguistic development.
(/s/ is one of the last ones a child learns)
