Well I'm TRYING to go to sleep, but interesting things keep popping up on the 'nets... ;D Somehow... this kinda came out as a pretentious rant, and I apologize. I'm tired.

Elle Fanfiction.net meme

(I've had three different fanfiction.net accounts under three different names. Because it's late and I'm lazy, I'll just go with my Avocado Love handle on fanfiction.net.)

1. How many words of fanfic have you submitted?

354,021 words. Christ, that's a lot.

2. How many people have you on alerts?

Uh, 135 author alerts and... 883 individual alerts on my stories.

3. How many people have faved you?

124 author favs and 959 for individuals stories.

4. Which fandoms do you write for?

Avatar The Last Airbender, mostly. I've written a lot of Harry Potter, but I'm really not feeling that much anymore. I used to write real people fanfiction (yeah, I know. I stopped writing for a few years after it creeped me out). I've written some Dragon Riders of Pern and when I was younger I wrote Animorphs and Stargate SG1.

5. How many stories have you written?

16 stories on my Avocado Love account.

6. Which story of yours would you recommend for people to read?

Hoo boy. I guess Another Brother. There's some parts I'm not really happy with, but I think it best represents where I'm at and what I'm trying to say in terms of my writing. (I don't mean to get all artsy, but I'm on vicoden for my toothache and... yeah, I'm getting artsy.)

7. Which story are you most proud of?

Another Brother, but I'm also sorta proud of my earlier work when I was a kid. I recently found one of my old fanfiction accounts and... well, yeah, there were big problems with my writing but I think it has some charm and a couple of good sentences here and there. I think the best of what I wrote when I was younger was The Pregnancy which was this Animorph fic where Cassie discovers Rachel and Jake are having an affair. (They're cousins and it's ridiculous) And I dedicated it to my hick home town. Classy. It has over 90 reviews and most of them are calling me a sick bitch. *laughs* Also the one where Tobias accidentally kills and eats his old pet cat. I was a messed up kid, come to think of it.

8. Which one was your biggest challenge?

The Writing On The Wall which was a Dragonrider of Pern series with OC's set in an AU world where Ista is the last Weyr, there's one queen and only a handful of bronzeriders left. I wasn't used to writing orignal characters and it was very hard to keep from basing all of the personailtys from existing fandoms and trying to create a credible backstory AND trying to make sure they weren't Sue's AND throwing in a slash romance. I killed off the main character's dragon in the first chapter. It was hard, but fun. After not writing full stories for a few years, it's what got me back from doing RP's to writing fanfiction again.

9. Which one had the most reviews?

Another Brother

10. Which had the least?

*Checks* Disposable Hero's which had 9 reviews for 2 chapters. I'm not too surprised. Not only is the main character a compleate bitch, but it's done in a period of Pern that most of the fandom hate. (Set during Dragonsblood). I was also pretty rusty coming back into writing, so there you go.

11. Which story do you feel deserved the most reviews?

I dunno... I'll be honest: I've always been pretty damn lucky with the amount of reviews I get and I try not to dwell on the numbers because then you start writing for other people and not just for yourself. I guess... maybe Inner Nature? It got great reviews on LJ, but not so much response on fanfiction.net. I was a little surprised, but 15 reviews for a one-shot crossover where the other fandom is either hated or unknown isn't bad at all, really.

12. Which one are you most known for?

Another Brother and In His Shoes which is fine by me. I'm getting artsy again but I think those two stories are the same, but on different sides of the coin -- if you know what I mean.

13. Which story was your longest?

Another Brother. It's over 200 pages in Microsoft Word. I need a life.

14. Which story was your shortest?

*Checks* Going back to one of my old accounts. I had a fic called The Last Laugh which tags at 396 words. It's about Marco laughing at Visser 3 before he dies.

15. Which story was a surprise hit?

Another Brother. When I wrote the first chapter I was in the middle of In His Shoes and I meant for it to be a side project while I screwed around with a more fairy-taleish way of telling a story. I had this idea of Zuko sort of being accepted into the Water Tribe in the same ebb and flow as the tides -- something that was accepted and just happened as a way of life like you would hear in a backstory to set up a fairy tale. I can tell this doesn't make sense, but whatever. Of course it went a completely different way and now I'm somehow telling an AU season 1 with Zuko in the Water Tribe... but... yeah I didn't know what I was doing with it at first and people really liked the premise which was a pleasant surprise. (THEN IT TOOK OVER MY BRAIN)

16. What story are you most known for?

Is it the drugs or have I answered this up above? ;D

17. What fandom are you most known for?

Avatar The Last Airbender, for sure. I used to be pretty well known in the Real Life Fandom I will not name.

18. What pairings are you most known for?

I don't usually do pairings in my writing. Or at least, I don't stick to one. I do like Zuko/Sokka, though. I'm mostly a gen writer.

19. What is something you will never put into your story?

UGH. I hate dream sequences. I hate to read them, hate to write them.... and I totally broke my rule already when I said that I would NEVER INFLICT THEM ON ANYONE EVER. The next few chapters in Another Brother is going to have A LOT of them. Dreams are hardly ever written right and are usually uninteresting to everyone except the author. I just hate them. Say what you need to say and get over it.

But one thing I really, really, really, really, really, really, really hate is divine intervention. I'll have to do it *ticks off fingers* in four or five chapters from now in Another Brother, but I'm not looking forward to it. (And I'm totally selling out by doing it.) I think the characters should stand on their own two feet because when you start introducing that sort of stuff it takes some of the danger away. Mostly I'm ranting about fantasy series. Dragon Riders of Pern had deadly thread which felt real and scary and the characters used everything from time travel to space travel to deal with it, but the worked it out on their own -- until they unburied a supercomputer that magically zipped their technology forward. The series had a real decline after that point. The last book of the Air Beneath The Moon trilogy had the same problem. The horse god that everyone was praying too and just was sort of featured for two books as some sort of Crystal Dragon Jesus suddenly became real and started solving all of the character's problems from providing rapid ideas to HIGHLIGHTING WHERE THEY WERE GOING TO LAND. I mean, really? Couldn't the writer have the character spot a street or a field to land in? Must they also have the Horse God point to one? Doesn't that god have anything better to do? Your characters need to use the eyeballs inside their little heads. kthanks.

20. What do you think your trademark is?

... I have no idea. I don't think I have one?

21. Give us a hint of future stories!

Well, finishing In His Shoes is a huge priority for me. There's going to be a lot of fun stuff coming up with Another Brother including a couple of episode arcs with Zuko dealing with his firebending and what that means to him. And Sokka learning to become a leader and making hard choices. I also have a Zutara I keep threatening poor Kim with making her beta that's, like, half done. It's a really dark storyline about what the characters end up doing when all hope is really lost. I also am thinking on and off about how the hell I'm going to do a sequel to the Stargate Crossover.

That's it. And now I'm off to sleep!

People have a hard time writing dream sequences? What, do they make them too linear or something?

Yay, more "In His Shoes"! I do greatly enjoy "Another Brother", but for some reason, "In His Shoes" grabbed me a heck of a lot harder with the 'cannot put it down' bug. (I am wondering how you're going to handle Piandao, though, because I'm a Sokka'n'Piandao fangirl like whoa.)

Are you only doing a Season One retelling with "Another Brother", or will you be covering the entire series, or what, do you think?

No, they're just boring to me. ;D I especially hate it when a book starts out with a dream sequence. Like, yuck. Oddly enough, I don't mind dream sequences in fan fiction as much because they're usually tied into the actual story. Dreams in books just seem to be an author's excuse to go on a crazy romp and the metaphors just go over my head and annoy me. It's a bizzare snobby pet peeve, no?

And thanks! I really like In His Shoes and I've neglected it terribly.

I am doing a whole three seasons with Another Brother, but if I think much past season 1 my head is going to explode. I knew what had happened to Zuko when I started, and now I have the ending worked out and a couple of key things I want to have happen in the middle... the rest is up for grabs. I'm not a big fan of, um, plans. hehe.

As much as I'm not a Zutarian at heart, I know there are a huge number of people who will be excited that you are using your talents for that ship. It's always exciting to get a great writer who respects the ship and it's characters enough to make the story worth it :DD

Lol, I remember the first chapter of Another Brother where you stated in the A/N that it was just a side project, but your main focus was In His Shoes. Hahaha, total takeover!!

Aw geez, that's so sweet of you to say. *grins* Well I'm still working on it, so we'll see!

And yeah, it really was meant to be a side project. Then it took over, like cancer. ;D

Oh good grief. I read "The Pregnancy" and I'm probably one of those idiots who called you a sick bitch. My only defense is that I read it about, what, ten years ago? I've done a lot of growing up since then. Sorry? *shrugs* I've kept all my writing under one name and account ever since I started writing and I have a huge amount of stuff I just laugh at now.

ZMOG!!!!!!!!!

OMG! What a small world!

Haha. Don't worry about it, though. It didn't upset me then and it doesn't now. And you're not the only one who has done a lot of growing up. *Grins*

I sorta wish I kept it all on one screen name, but I don't even have the password to the old ones. They're archived, but it would be nice to at least change the profile to link them all together.

Hah! I know. I remember thinking that it had been done simply for shock value. *shrugs* For the record? I think if you had bothered to develop the idea, I could see it happening. Of course, I couldn't make myself finish reading the series because of the ending and how it got towards the middle. Animorphs went on for so long I just got sick of it. Like DBZ, in a way.

I would read your Animorphs fic, except for the one where Tobias eats Dude. It's probably very sad that I remember Dude's name.

Haha, I would do this meme but it's totally not worth it. XD Just for the lulz, I checked how many words I have archived on FF.net: 13,097. Yeah, nobody knows who I am 'cause I don't write anything. XD

You remember Dude's name because Dude is a cool name.

And you should totally do this! It's not the amount, but the quality (and you have quality). And you know how to easily fix the small amount? Write more! :D

Well, I did end up doing it. :) It's a fun meme! I do write, but I just don't do long, epic fics. :P I only do one-shots and drabbles. Mebbe one day when an epic strikes me, I will.
