I think that if Lu Ten had lived, Ba Sing Se would have been all but destroyed. Iroh is, as you say, scarily competent.

"After she died giving Lu Ten to him, however, Iroh would have traded every mistress he ever had for one last night with his wife, to tell her he was sorry." ;_; Beautiful.

"He lives to a good age, but during his last year he has a lot of trouble focusing his mind. He slips up and calls Zuko "Lu Ten" on accident a few times. It's highly embarrassing for both." Also sad, but... ;_;
