Yeah, so I just signed my dog up for doggy day care.

She needs it. Today was the last straw.

So my dog Petra, an English Mastiff, has gotten out of the yard a couple of times. I live next to a very busy street, so it's not a good thing. Luckily, my neighbor has been able to catch her. But I've had to return from work early twice now in order to put her back  in her yard.

The problem is she weighs 120 lbs and can just power through the fence any time she wants. So I decided to tie her up. I got her a red harness and hooked her to a rope tied to a tree with her electric no-bark collar so she doesn't yap all day. It seemed to be working.

Then I got home a couple of times and she had somehow wiggled out of her harness. Then, yesterday I got home and she had somehow unhooked the rope from the tree... or at least, I thought it was her.

I took her for a walk today and some handy-man guy who was working on a fence stopped to talk to me.

"Hey! I know your dog! She's over in that yard." He said, pointing to my house.

So we got in a convo and it turns out HE has been the one unhooking my dog. He works on the house behind mine and has been hearing my dog yapping. Yesterday he looked over the yard and apparently she was nearly strangling herself from getting tied up to the trees. He said that he jumped my fence, and unhooked her.

Bizarre enough right? It gets worse.

I thanked him very much  for saving my dog (although I'm not too sure she could strangle herself since the harness doesn't go around her neck, but whatever) and went on my way. Then I ran into a group of kids. They knew my dog too! Apparently when Petra had been getting out, she was running around the neighborhood for hours and they had played with her. I suppose this is before my neighbor caught her.

Why does my dog have this secret life I'm not aware of?

So now it's doggy day care for her. Thank the flying spaghetti monster that she plays well with other dogs. Even though it's expensive, it's probably for the best. I've been breaking the law tying her up in the back yard. In California, the maximum time you can do that is six hours. I work a full eight hour shift.

I'll just have to work some overtime every day to cover the cost. Plus, it'll help with my stats at work. *looks on the bright side*

Here's a couple of pictures of Petra just to make this story interesting. Actually, I'll do a whole progression:

My baby is almost a year old! *sniff*
