This isn't directed at anyone specifically, but because I've received three spammy PM's this week, I have to ask: please stop sending me requests. I'm not interested in joining your LJ games. Thanks.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 04:12 am (UTC)
Sigh, add me to that list. Who has the time?

Miss ya!
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:18 pm (UTC)
I know, right?

And me too! I've been really busy in the evenings and tonight isn't looking much better. :( I'll try to get on more this week, though.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 04:26 am (UTC)
I can't believe they even added that shit. It's annoying enough on facebook!
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:18 pm (UTC)
I know. I think they're focusing in the wrong direction. :(
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:19 pm (UTC)
Yeah, Livejournal needs to focus on differentiating itself from facebook, not copying it. The reason people like this site is because it is NOT a social networking site.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 04:34 am (UTC)
Your icon is amazingly appropriate. I seem to recall playing that game on the first computer I ever touched - that old '96 Windows desk top gathering dust in the basement. What was it called... ski free?

EPIC icon.

I also hope that people stop bothering you. ;) People don't generally invite me to things like that, but many people on my friends list on facebook spam me with Farmville requests and such all the time. :P Annoying.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:17 pm (UTC)
Yes! Skifree! I remember so many times trying to ski off the map, but that little monster always found me. Asshole.

At least with facebook you can set notifications so you aren't emailed every time someone invites you to a game. LJ sends it STRAIGHT through as a PM. So irritating.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:41 pm (UTC)
That is definitely annoying. :P Are they bots doing it, or "real" people?
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:46 pm (UTC)
Real people - I guess there's an option to click to invite certain friends or something, which is why I'm hoping this post will help deter future notifications.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 07:15 pm (UTC)
Fair enough. All you can do is warn people, right?
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 04:36 am (UTC)
I think it's that exact sort of spammy crap that resulted in ALL the LJ notification emails that we normally receive (comments on our entries, etc) being blocked by spam filters from March 9th to March 14th, according to the LJ News entry I read a few days back.

LiveJournal should figure out what favorably differentiates them from Facebook (for me, it's able to make my posts as long as I damn well want them to be, instead of being limited to one short paragraph) and capitalize on that, not try to copy the competitors.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:16 pm (UTC)
Really? Well that would explain things. And I totally agree! The reason why I'm around on LJ more than facebook is because of LJ's different features. Ugh.

(I seriously got a spam message on this thread, screened, asking me to buy neo pets points. Someone out there hates me. lol.)
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:48 pm (UTC)
You didn't know about the notification emails being blocked for a few days? Is that why there was no response to the last dozen or so comments/request on your headcanon meme? I just figured we'd gotten there late and the meme was closed already.

*checks*

.......
.........

JeSUS.

No, I was not alerted to those at all, which makes me wonder what else I've missed. Baaaaah, I don't have time for this now. Thanks for the heads up.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 11:32 pm (UTC)
Re: spam and the LJ notifications, there's a post on that here.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 04:54 am (UTC)
ENGH. Those annoying games are the reason I left Facebook for good. I just about headdesked when I saw LJ had decided to make their own versions.

There really should be some sort of setting here, like configure nogames. You don't see game-related stuff and people can't invite you into games. God, I wish.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:15 pm (UTC)
I agree! The reason I put up this post was because I searched and there WAS no option to exclude oneself from games. At least Facebook has a thing where you're not notified. LJ sends it STRAIGHT through the PM.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 07:02 am (UTC)
....wait, people actually PLAY the games?
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 08:00 am (UTC)
seconding this
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:14 pm (UTC)
Haha. I know, I was a little surprised too.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:21 pm (UTC)
dude, that was my first reaction. Then again, I said the same thing on facebook, so...
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 06:02 pm (UTC)
Ha! That was my reaction, too. If I wanted that sort of crap, I'd go to Facebook.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 07:51 am (UTC)
Oh, sorry! I think I sent you one before I read this post that was up. Terribly sorry. :(
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:14 pm (UTC)
It's fine. :) You were just one of three this week.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 07:57 am (UTC)
...there are games on lj?

*crawls back under rock*
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:13 pm (UTC)
I know, right? I wish LJ would focus on making their site something unique instead of being a follower.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 09:20 am (UTC)
Me and online games are sworn enemies. I've given them up for good since Neopets started taking over my life - now it's long gone and I couldn't be happier. I never play games on Facebook, and...LJ? Just no.

LJ, stop trying to imitate things that suck.>.>
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:13 pm (UTC)
That's exactly the same reason I don't play -- except it was Runescape for me, not Neopets. I have impulse control issues and those games push all the right buttons for me to spend hours a day doing nothing.

(I seriously got a spam message on this thread, screened, asking me to buy neo pets points. Someone out there hates me. lol.)
Monday, March 21st, 2011 08:47 pm (UTC)
YES, I know exactly how that is.D: So much of Neopets was like, literally, doing nothing. The really evil thing is the way to be "best" at the game is basically making neopoints by doing the LEAST interesting and time wasting things, which usually involve refreshing a page for hours. Eventually I was just like...you know, Neo has a lot of creative and cute stuff going for it but it's just. not. worth it.x_x

o_o AHHH! I'm sorry. I hope I didn't attract a spambot or anything...?
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 05:38 am (UTC)
Nah, it was probably a random spambot. The timing couldn't have been better, though. ;D
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 03:05 pm (UTC)
Your icon seems to explain why.
Sunday, March 20th, 2011 05:11 pm (UTC)
haha. I love the old games!

(I seriously got a spam message on this thread, screened, asking me to buy neo pets points. Someone out there hates me. lol.)
Monday, March 21st, 2011 12:49 pm (UTC)
You know, I hate to admit it, but that's a classic and hilarious troll move. It wasn't me (I don't know how to do that), but you have to admit it is kinda funny... I mean, if you ignore how annoying it is?
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 05:39 am (UTC)
My mind. It is blown.

I have to go find that game now, and test that out. Oh wow. I thought the monster just signified the end of the game and the developers couldn't find a way to end it.

*Brb. Childhood collapsing* :D
